Well, this was an amazing wedding… Ali and Dan. Long term sweethearts and a pair that will pull each other through anything. The perfect balance.
I often feel like maybe my words come across as rehearsed or false in a sense. It bothers me a little bit… But when I remind myself that I write what I feel – the concerns are gone, and I am drawn immediately back to why I convey these words and the people that inspire them.
These two people are unique in their own way. Ali had me in stitches from the moment I met her. Not intentionally, but because she is so beautifully herself, you can’t help but forget about everything other than what she is talking about. When I eventually met Dan, it all fell into place and I knew that these guys were the real deal. I can see by the way he looks at her, the way he laughs with her and the way he supports her. He loves her completely. As she loves him.
It is no secret that I cry at just about every wedding I shoot. I think weddings – ceremonies especially – compel everyone to look into their own hearts and appreciate what they have in their lives. This notion alone, makes being a wedding photographer even more amazing than it already is. I am truly lucky to be able to do what I do… I will never take this for granted. Ali and Dan – thank you for having me there on your wedding day and thank you for making me feel so comfortable. I am forever grateful. Aaaand, I may steal your dog one day…
To finish, a quote that was read at the ceremony on this perfect February day:
“He’s not perfect. You aren’t either, and the two of you will never be perfect. But if he can make you laugh at least once, causes you to think twice, and if he admits to being human and making mistakes, hold onto him and give him the most you can. He isn’t going to quote poetry, he’s not thinking about you every moment, but he will give you a part of him that he knows you could break. Don’t hurt him, don’t change him, and don’t expect for more than he can give. Don’t analyze. Smile when he makes you happy, yell when he makes you mad, and miss him when he’s not there. Love hard when there is love to be had. Because perfect guys don’t exist, but there’s always one guy that is perfect for you.” – Bob Marley
